Was the FBI Spying On the Fort Worth TEA Party on 4-15-09?

Posted on April 20, 2009. Filed under: News of the Day, Political Issues |

Was the FBI conducting a surveillance operation at the Fort Worth Tea Party on April 15th? According to the Northeast Intelligence Network and Douglas J. Hagmann, as reported by Pamela Geller at AtlasShruggs, they might have been.

Everyone saw the headlines last week about the Department of Homeland Security conducting an operation targeting right wing groups and veterans as threats to the homeland. Now a story is alleging  that the nationwide TEA Parties were being observed by the FBI. We know the facts are right on the Homeland Security story, and this story of the FBI sounds plausible given the other story and what some in the MSM and the demoncrat party are saying.

According to the story from the Northeast Intelligence Network, FBI agents were assigned to cover the major TEA Parties in all the states. Since Fort Worth was one of the top 5-6 TEA Parties in Texas, it is very possible the FBI was there.

What does this mean? The FBI has occasionally been used for political purposes by previous administrations, there is no reason to assume the Obama administration will be any different. I think we need to keep in mind however, that most of the FBI agents and employees are good American citizens, doing a bang up job protecting us and relentlessly pursuing the bad guys. I do not think this report gives anybody cause to castigate the FBI.

However, given the fact that the Department of Homeland Security has been observing right wing groups for some time, presumably also under the Bush administration, it is good to step back and think about what this means. 1) There may be a legitimate threat from right wing nut jobs. The last thing a Conservative resurgence needs is some idiot living in the mountains of Idaho or Arkansas, planning some stupid racist attack on the President or any other person of color, or of attacking some mosque or government facility like in the Oklahoma City bombing. Though the story broke, we still do not have all the facts and we should assume that there is some type of real threat out there. 2) We should also assume that our government is run by Left wing socialists who have a hatred for the Right and will use anything they can to damage us. Government is a necessary evil and they will violate your rights. Power corrupts.
What are we to do? We must conduct our TEA Parties with respect and integrity and purge any racists or other wackos from our midst. We must hold government and the press accountable. the Press and hollywood are grossly mischaracterizing the TEA Parties. And finally, we should smile- we might just be on candid camera!
