Friday, July 18, 2008–Pvt. Luke Walker of Fort Worth has been assigned to HHC, 2/505th PIR, 3rd BCT of the 82nd “All-Americans” Division posted at Fort Bragg, NC. After a week of inprocessing at the replacement Battalion, receiving shots, filling out paperwork, drawing equipment, taking yet another PT test and participating with some work details, he finally got assigned to his unit.

After meeting the BN CSM and the CO and moving into the barracks, he called me and his mother yesterday and told us the good news about being assigned to the 505th. He was anticipating doing company PT this morning but got an early morning call that changed his plans as he was selected to participate in a jump. At about 1000 this morning I got the text “Good exit, good landing!”. He is now a paratrooper with the 82nd!

Plans for the future include visiting Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville this Sunday, but then preparing for a long deployment for training sometime next week.
