Maine Voters Reject Homosexual Marriage

Homosexual marriage ballot initiatives have been defeated in all 30 previous states that have tried it, and the homosexual activists lost again in Maine last night as the pro-family vote got 53% of the vote to disallow homosexual marriage. This trend shows several things, first of which is that the judges and legislators, news media and Hollywood types are clearly out of sync with where the average American is morally and spiritually, culturally and legally.
However, the vote also shows that America is very evenly split on this issue. The vote should have been closer to 80% to 20%. How is it somewhere close to 53/47? Even though homosexual marriage has been voted down every time, the trend in the country is towards homosexual marriage. In ten years they will be winning these never ending votes. Unless America does something rather dramatic and quickly, the walls around marriage will fall within ten years.
What can be done politically? Pro-family groups need to PRESSURE Legislators to begin IMPEACHING judges for legislating this junk from the bench. IF ANY JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF THE GAY AGENDA HE/SHE SHOULD BE IMPEACHED. I am tired of playing nice. Judges are a major problem and they need to be reigned in.
Research Shows Ex-Gay Ministry Has 53% Success Rate:
Exodus International, a ministry to help people leave the gay lifestyle, has taken a LOT of criticism from the secularist press and APA, and so-called Christian gays who defend their sexual orientation and lifestyle. Exodus commissioned a longitudinal study for over 7 yrs to objectively study their success rate. The study was conducted by psychologists Stanton L. Jones of Wheaton College and Mark A. Yarhouse of Regent University, and found a 53% success rate. They studied 61 gay men for 6-7 yrs each and had 23% convert to heterosexual attractions, 30% living a contented life of celibacy. An additional 16% had experienced a decrease in homosexual attraction but were not satisfied with the degree of their change and were committed to further change. 7% had no decrease in homosexual attraction but were still committed to working on it. 25% gave up.

Maine Voters Sign On To a People’s Veto of Gay Marriage
In just over 1 month various pro-family groups joining together in a coalition called “Stand for Marriage Maine” have gathered almost twice as many signatures as the 55,000 required by law to put a referendum on the ballot this fall that will seek to overturn the liberal legislature’s approval of homosexual marriage in Maine. The group turned in about 100,000 signatures to the Secretary of State on Friday, July 31.
The law allowing homosexual ‘marriage’ has not gone into effect yet, pending the petition drive and now the election scheduled for November. Homosexual marriage laws have lost in every state that had a people’s vote on it, including the highly publicized Prop 8 in California last November.

Barna Survey Reveals Differences in Belief Between Gays and Straights
A recent survey by the Barna Group shows the many differences in belief and practice between the gay population and the straight in America. The focus of the survey is in religious life. What I would have liked to have seen was a breakdown between self-identified Conservative Straights and Gays vs. Liberal Straights and Gays. I suspect the differences would not have so pronounced.

Broadway Baptist, Fort Worth, To Be Booted From the SBC Over Homosexuals in the Church
Tuesday, June 23, 2009- The Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention has finally decided to disfellowship (i.e. kick out) Broadway Baptist Church of Fort Worth for their allowing practicing homosexuals to continue serving in the church. This decision by the Executive Committee will be brought forward to the Messengers at the Convention in Louisville today or tomorrow.
At issue is whether the church is in violation of Article III of the SBC Constitution, which states that churches “which act to affirm, approve, or endorse homosexual behavior” are not in friendly cooperation. Broadway Baptist has approximately five open homosexual members, including two male couples, according to church leaders. Some of the homosexuals serve on church committees.
www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=30729
This issue was initially brought before the Convention last year but the Executive Committee took time this year to carefully study it and avoided taking hasty action. Hmm, now if we could only take similar actions against churches that allow adulterers and swindlers to continue serving….We Baptists seriously need to do some repenting and look at the doctrine of a regenerate church membership. For too long we have tolerated ongoing, persistent sin in our lives. At least we are willing to draw the line here at homosexual conduct.
Churches in Maine Begin Effort to Overturn Gay Marriage
There is a grass roots effort in Maine, led by the churches, seeking to overturn the recent legalization of homosexual marriage. Baptists cooperating with Catholics and others are using the Prop. 8 battle in California for inspiration as they seek to overturn the state’s legislature and governor on the issued of gay marriage. They have under two months now to gain the 55,000 signatures to have the issue put on the ballot of the November elections.
One difficulty the Churches are facing is that there has not been any serious statewide poll conducted that could accurately tell where the people of Maine are on this issue. One very small poll was conducted that is not encouraging:
given three options, 39 percent supported “gay marriage,” 34.5 percent same-sex civil unions and 23 percent opposed all legal recognition for homosexual couples.
But on the encouraging side, the Maine constitution allows a People’s Veto to be used to overturn legislation and the citizens of Maine have used this successfully in the recent past. But Maine is largely unchurched and very liberal, so it will be a tough battle.
Pray for the citizens of Maine, the churches of Maine, to get riled up about this issue and to get the signatures they need. You know the Enemy will have more money and will pull out all stops to advertise on TV and radio and print. Every political dirty trick will be used against God’s people and fellow conservatives.

It is very clear to me that our cultural elites in the legal world, entertainment and academic worlds have gone over to the homosexual side. It will be up to the people, the Church, to look our culture in the eyes and say, “Thus sayeth the Lord…” without blinking, without backing down, and with grace and love.
While we must fight the homosexual movement, we must befriend, love and show respect for the individuals trapped in this sinful lifestyle. We must be able to argue from the Bible with them in a respectful way. But the movement, the political group that is leading the homosexual agenda, we fight tooth and nail.
One key reason I am so against the homosexual movement is that Freedom of Religion and Homosexual rights are mutually exclusive. The more rights that are bestowed upon homosexuals, the more they will clash with the Free Exercise clause of the First Amendment. See the Chuck colson article below:

Homosexuals in the News: California Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Prop 8
California Supreme Court gives a confused ruling that upholds proposition 8 which bans gay marriage, yet they also say the marriages that were made prior to this ruling are upheld. This self contradictory ruling will likely be appealed to the US Supreme court since it is nonsensical. When San Francisco began allowing gay marriages in 2004 the state lower courts eventually ruled against but the State Supreme Court overturned those rulings in early 2008. Proposition 8 amended the State Constitution and this current ruling allows Prop 8 to stand. In order to prevent an ex post facto law situation, the court probably had no choice but to allow the prior marriages to continue.
This is clearly not the end to the gay marriage battle in California. The gays will not give up and they will bring this issue up again and again. The only “political” solution is for the California voters to throw out the libs and put some conservatives in the legislature, governor’s office and courts. My personal opinion is that the whole country will eventually go for gay marriage one way or another.

New Hampshire Legislature Passes Gay “Marriage” Bill
Thursday, April 30, 2009- New Hampshire is poised to become the fifth state to legalize sodomite marriage as the New Hampshire Senate voted 13-11 to legalize the change of definition of the term marriage. The NH House had previously approved the radical measure that disrespects all heterosexuals and rewards perverted, unbiblical practices. There is hope that the New Hampshire Governor, John Lynch, will veto the outrageous bill. Gov. Lynch has previously and repeatedly expressed his disapproval of the measure. If this law passes it will endanger children who need two real parents in the home and it will endanger the churches who may then be sued if they deny homosexuals a wedding. Homosexual Couple Files Federal Suit Against Defense of Marriage Act
Wednesday, March 4, 2009– A homosexual couple in Massachusetts has filed a federal law suit seeking to overturn portions of the Defense of Marriage Act signed by Bill Clinton in 1996. This is an effort to get the Federal Government to recognize homosexual marriages, which would then lead to the Federal government forcing it on the other states. This has long been the hidden gay agenda and plan, and it is a plan being copied by muslims. Liberals and those others who hate our country, know that the way to change America into Amerika is through the Hollywood entertainers, the Main Stream Media, the liberal government controlled schools and universities, and through the courts.
Meanwhile, the Church remained silent. Today the mainline “church” actually supports the homosexual marriages and agenda.
The eventual goal of these groups is to change the marriage laws in every state and then force gay marriage on the conservative churches through Hate Crime laws, discrimination laws, equal protection, etc.
And the Obama Administration will support this, if not vocally, but at least through its appointments to the Courts.
Hey Amerika, you got what you voted for.
Come Lord Jesus!

Homosexuals in the News: Harassing Christians in San Francisco

eHarmony Caves in to Homosexual Lobby
Monday. 11-24-2008– eHarmony was founded by Christian Psychologist Neal Clark Warren in 2000 as a dating site for Christians. It was sued in 2005 in New Jersey for discriminating against homosexuals and now eHarmony has settled out of court and has agreed to set up a dating site for homosexuals. The rampaging homosexual political movement wins another one and the Christians get another step closer to the arena with the lions.
Dr. Warren had a close relationship with Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family at one time but with the commercial success of eHarmony, and the marketing plan that spread it into the general market for everyone, the Christian element of the company now seems to have disappeared.
The sad thing is that eHarmony did not show the willingness to fight this case in court. This is not just a loss to the general morals of Amerika, it is a loss to the Constitution of America in regards to the rights of owners of businesses and property. It is a loss to the Church in some ways as well, although many would say that eHarmony has nothing to do with the Church. I know that the concept of Christian businesses is very tricky, and that many conservative pastors and theologians would disagree with the very concept of eHarmony from the beginning, but I still think that Christian businesses have a positive role to play in the Church and in our culture. That role is now diminished
This lawsuit is one more step towards legitimizing the perversion of homosexuality and forcing the Church to accept it. YOU CANNOT HAVE SPECIAL RIGHTS FOR THE HOMOSEXUALS AND THE FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT TO THE FREE EXERCISE OF RELIGION.

Homosexual Thugs Terrorize Old Lady and Churches
Friday November 14, 2008 update–Some homosexuals are beginning to show they have a racist streak and are religious bigots. They are protesting at Mormon and Catholic churches and calling Black-Americans the N word. Some homosexuals are proving themselves to be terrorists by mailing envelopes with “white powder” to a couple of Mormon churches.
Christians, Catholics, Mormons- we had all better stand together or we shall surely hang as individuals. We must arise and resist this monstrous evil that is filling our land.

Proposition 8 passed in California on Tuesday, thus halting all Gay Marriages and promoting Happy Marriages. However, the perverts and libtard lawyers will take it to the courts just like they did several years ago when CA voters passed a resolution to roll back property taxes. Laws, people’s rights and the democratic process no longer matter when you have control of the Courts, legislature and press. California residents, be on the look out-your rights will be taken away in favor of gay rights, one way or another. Here is the story at Baptist Press:

And here is a story from LA about a protest march against the Mormons who helped pass Prop 8:
apnews.myway.com/article/20081107/D94A2EA80.html
On Monday, Nov.10, 2008 I read the following article that shows the high turnout of black voters in California provided the tipping point for the passage of Prop.8. Funny how that worked out. It is sooo insane for homosexuals to even try to claim minority status. You cannot give minority status based upon behavior.
Moral Issues- Gay Marriage will Compromise 1st Amendment Freedom of Religion
Monday, October 27, 2008–As homosexuals gain more special rights for their perverted behavior choices, conflicts are arising with our First Amendment rights for the free exercise of religion. As civil unions and even marriage (CA, Mass. and CT) become recognized by the states, those who discriminate against homosexuals based upon the Word of God are being persecuted. Gays are using civil rights codes to prosecute privately owned businesses and churches that refuse to serve gays. The plan seems to be to take away the tax exempt status of church related ministries if they refuse to accept homosexuals. Churches had better start doing some long term budget planning to pay property and even corporate taxes because it is coming soon.
Here is a great article from the Baptist Press on the issue:
www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=29197
The next article by Baptist Press deals with even more of the GAy Agenda, from England. They have accepted homosexual unions as the equivalent of marriage for a few years now, so what is next on the gay agenda? Public sex. Gays not only want civil rights including the right to marry, they want the right to have sex in public whenever they feel like it. Coming to a park/public toilet near you…

Wednesday, October 22, 2008– Here is a link to a story about Proposition K in San Francisco that would tell its police to not arrest anyone for prostitution. They cannot make prostitution legal since that is a state law, but they can choose to not enforce it locally with this Prop.K on the ballot.

This proposition on girls who proposition men (or I guess in San Fran, on men who proposition men) is supported by, you guessed it, the Demoncratic Party! You gotta love those Demons. they support homosexual marriage, abortion, sex ed for kindergartners, and now the oldest profession.
I have to confess that while it is easy to take shots at the citizens of San Fran and the Demoncrats on this issue, the issue really is not all that simple. Once upon a time I was a closet Libertarian having been heavily influenced by the writings of Ayn Rand. Let be very precise here: I believe that prostitution and those who purchase the services of prostitutes are immoral, sinful and damaging to people’s emotional and physical health as well as damaging to the Family and community. But should it be outlawed?
While I want it outlawed, enforced and prosecuted I also recognize that there is a danger here along with all other laws that cover moral offenses that do not include violence or property crime. Anytime we give the government the right to invade the privacy of our private lives, we give government way more control than they usually merit.
I had a Sunday School teacher once who was a political liberal though a staunch Southern Baptist. The teacher said, “You cannot legislate morals!” That kind of an attitude is raw ignorance (and she was a school teacher as well- NEA and all that liberal educrat rot) because all laws are based upon morals. The only question is, whose morals will be turned into law?
The bottom line in this San Fran case is that, once again, the demoncrats show themselves for who they really are: immoral, power hungry statists.

Saturday, September 13, 2008–Here is the text of my e-mail to someone who is very close to me who is a Christian homosexual but celibate. This person and I have had an ongoing dialog for about 12-15 years about homosexuality; we obviously have much disagreement, but we are generally able to carry on a respectful and even fun argument. This friend sent me an e-mail with a link to a gay newspaper that has an interview with a famous Christian Singer who has come out of the closet and announced he is gay. Here is the link:
http://www.washingtonblade.com/2008/9-12/arts/feature/13258.cfm
http://www.bpnews.net/BPFirstPerson.asp?ID=28996
I’ve been debating with myself whether to respond to the e-mail you sent. I guess I will try
but I sure don’t want to be preachy here; so I guess I will just state my opinion and thoughts in as decent a way as I can.
1)I believe that we start with fundamentally different premises which makes argumentation quite difficult. My premise is that God’s Word is to be the authority over my personal experience and preference and feelings. The Gay interpretations of the Bible that seek to defend homosexual Behaviour that I have read (yes I went to that website you sent me back in Jan-Feb) ultimately make personal experience the rule of faith. Gays are not alone in that by the way. My experience as a pastor in a small, traditional Baptist Church taught me that most of us are prone to that faulty hermeneutic. I mean, c’mon, what is sin but telling God my way is better, I want what I want and I will seek to cover it up or justify it any way I can.
2) So, since we start with a fundamentally different premise, any appeal to my authority, the Bible, would likely fall on deaf ears to anyone who has self as the ultimate authority. However, the standard answer by the Christian gay would be, “But I do believe the Bible”. I would reply that “Yeah, you believe the Bible except for the parts about homosexuality.” And then the argument would begin. Let’s skip all that.
3) Let me also state from the beginning that I do believe that many, maybe even most, gays are born with a genetic predisposition toward homosexuality. I got in BIG trouble for stating that as a question last year when I was teaching. Voof. I think some become gay due to early childhood experiences that would include things like a domineering mother and weak or absent dad; being molested; early adolescent sexual experimentation with same sex; or, now with young women especially- it is a way to have sex without risk of pregnancy; it is now socially cool for girls to do it due to media and entertainment. I think the whole bi-sexual thing which is increasingly popular even in middle school is a direct result of the pornification of America and is much more of a choice.
4) All that being said, I also happen to believe that ALL of us are natural born sinners with different predispositions to sin in a multitude of ways. I am a hetero sexual and have a natural predisposition to lust after any good looking woman I see. I was born that way. God made me that way. So why should there be laws prohibiting me from acting upon my inner self? I have met people who were angry from birth. They have an anger streak in their family and likely have an “anger gene”. To be true to their self should they be allowed to exult in their anger? Should they set up political action committees for a political alliance based upon their genetic predisposition towards anger? I have met some that I absolutely believe were born liars, very young children who could not have been taught to lie so young. The Bottom line is that every one of us is a natural born sinner who inherit some, but not all, sinful tendencies from our parents, some of us grow up in a home where we learn other sins, and some of us make sinful choices later in life that then become a habit and part of our character.
5) Let me ask you this; if as many Christian gays say, the Bible would allow for gay partners to marry or be in a stable, monogamous relationship based on the principle of love, then can we also make a case for polygamous marriages? The Bible very clearly and unequivocally presents many godly men who have multiple wives. And the NT teachings about marriage being between one man and one woman can be easily interpreted to apply only to the church leaders. This is a far easier task than defending homosexuality from the scriptures. I would love to have several wives and sleep with a different one every night, or with 3-4 at the same time. Is that wrong? If so, by what criteria can you say it would be wrong? Or, we currently have laws that would prevent a man from having sex with girls under age, like 17yrs and younger. Yet in Bible times, and even into the early 20th century, it was common to have a man in his 20’s or even 30’s marry a girl aged 14-16. Should we drop the age of consent laws down to maybe 13-14? Once you cross the threshold of biblical eisigesis, reading into the text what you want to find, then anything is possible.
6) Now, to the point of the Christian Singer– What was your motivation in sending me that news?
I certainly am guilty of gossip about a bagillion times, it is one of my most hard core sins. But sometimes I think that some gays may rejoice when a famous person “comes out”. Is that really a time to rejoice? Oh I suppose if we go along with modern psychology it would be a rejoicing that he is finally honest with himself and being true to who he really is, therefore let us rejoice and be glad. Is that Scriptural? I think impicit in that rejoicing is the deep belief that being gay is OK and that announcing it rather than hiding it is healthy and acting on it is natural and good because God created us that way.
Whatever the sin is that we all have – inherited genetically, learned in childhood, or picked up later in life- Why Should We Rejoice When we see someone else fall victim to it? Should we not instead rejoice in the one who humbly confesses his/her sinful nature and choices and seeks to live obediently to God? And when we fail, we humbly confess our failure to live up to our rule of faith, and then get up and try again to pursue holiness?
Am I wrong here? Is there secret rejoicing amongst gays when famous people are outed? Do Christian gays rejoice when they see another Christian announce they are gay? or do they grieve? I don’t doubt that gays grieve over the pain in the person’s life that will come with the outing; but that would be grieving over the effects of sin rather than the sin itself. But if being gay is not an example of the fallenness of man, and is inherently good instead, then of course rejoicing would be appropriate.
7) It is particularly a time to grieve when a leader in the Church (OK, the CCM Industry is not the Church, but people who perform for a living in the name of Christ impact a lot of people and can loosely be called leaders) falls. People who respond with anger and who do and say all kinds of mean and nasty things (boy have I been guilty of that a bagillion and 1 times) only display their own propensity to sin.
I do not view this famous Christian Singer’s decision as courageous. From the interview he had a good marriage, it was working. He just decided he was tired of his temptations and tired of the fight, so he gave up, he gave in to what tempted him and now he is trying to justify it all. That is not being true to who he really is, that is just quitting. My biggest fear is that I too would reach a point of frustration, despair, disillusionment and selfishness and just quit pursuing Christ and live for self, and then try to pretty it up and justify it. It can happen to any of us.
Well I guess that about wears the topic out for me. That is where I am coming from. I know we come from different positions and reach different conclusions, but I still love and respect you and wish for you the best.
Hang in there, never quit, never give up. Seek to Desire Him first and foremost, always and forever.
Definitely your redneck brother in Christ,
Bryan

Leaving Homosexuality for Christ
Thursday, August 28, 2008– Here is a controversial and sooo un-PC point of view, and a wonderful testimony of what Christ will do, that comes to us from the Baptist Press. This article is very up-lifting and challenging. The article is written by a former lesbian whose entry into homosexuality was caused by abuse. I know that this does not address those who may be born into homosexuality, but it does serve as a basis for hope for many.
http://www.bpnews.net/BPFirstPerson.asp?ID=28789
Homosexual “Marriage” vs. First Amendment Rights for the Rest of Us
Thursday, July 17, 2008–Massachusetts, the land of the Pilgrims, Bradford and Plymouth Colony, the home of the Puritans led by John Winthrop, the Mathers, etc. is now being led by weak kneed, spineless perverts (the Mass legislature and Governor) who are in the process of doing away with a 1913 law that will now allow out of state homosexuals to come into Mass. for the purpose of getting married. The resulting lawsuits to have their wicked unions “legalized” in the other states will begin soon, no doubt.
We live in a day that calls evil “good” and good “evil”. In the next few years, as the lawsuits work their way up to the Supreme Court (with more liberal justices soon to be added after Sen. B. Hussein Obama wins the Presidency in Nov.2008) we will encounter a major conflict of interests between the 1st Amendment “Free Exercise” of religion clause and the made up rights of the homosexuals. The First Amendment won’t stand a chance. Churches that refuse to support the homosexuals will have their tax exempt status revoked and be sued. Parachurch organizations and ministries- likewise.
Here is the link to a couple of stories about this topic:
http://www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=28481
http://www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=28483
So is there any good news here? If the State puts Christians and Churches in the situation where we are forced to do wrong, then we will have the opportunity to give a godly resistance and suffer for the cause of Christ. This will serve to purify the Church, shame our government, and either bring revival or judgment upon our society. I do not look forward to, or seek, persecution, but it will be an interesting historical situation to say the least.
Homosexual “Marriage” in California
Thursday, June 19, 2008— It has been a few months since I last wrote about the news of the day, so why not jump in to one of the great debates of the day- Homosexual Marriage. In recent weeks we have seen the California Supreme Court decide to allow homosexuals to marry, even though the people of California voted 61% against homosexual marriage in a referendum back in 2000. With this ruling, California becomes the second state to legalize gay marriage after Massachusetts did so in 2004. So where does this leave us? What is the significance of this ruling?
First of all, let me state clearly that I believe the Bible, clearly and unarguably, labels homosexual behavior as a sin and those who would try to justify their homosexual behavior with the Scriptures do so with such gymnastical hermeneutics (I made that one up, obviously) that it is ridiculous. Invariably those who seek to justify their homosexual behavior resort to the principle of “love” and try to show that they are born homosexual and that it is the loving thing to do to allow homosexual marriage.
Secondly, and I brought this controversial idea up in my Sunday School class a few weeks ago, I do not doubt that there may very well be a “homosexual gene”, or some kind of genetic link that gives some people a natural desire for the same sex. That doesn’t affect my Faith at all and does not diminish the Scriptural injunctions against homosexuality at all. Hello, we are all natural born sinners, each with a slightly different bent towards particular sins. If they come up with a “liar gene” that predisposes some people towards lying, will we excuse all liars? Some people are born with a higher sex drive in the hetero sphere. Should they be allowed to fornicate all they want? Folks, sin is sin, whether we are born with a desire for people of the same sex or not, we still have a choice about our particular sins.
Third, Dawn and I both have homosexuals in our family whom we love and respect. I have had homosexual friends at work who have shown themselves to be fantastic people, great employees, etc. I do not “hate” homosexuals. (Oh alright, I do admit to being a little bit creeped out if I am around a flaming open homosexual).
But here is the problem- the CA Supreme Court changed the definition of marriage, and that fundamentally oversteps their bounds. The CA Court overturned a law voted on by the people of CA that had a 61% majority. This ruling gives the state’s sanction to that which the majority of the state views as immoral, thus bringing guilt upon all the citizens of CA. It is one thing for a government to allow certain evils to exist, it is a different thing entirely to sanction it.
I am not in favor of the State invading the privacy of anyone’s bedroom and rounding up those who engage in perversion as consenting adults. (OK my Baptist brothers, here is my Libertarian side coming out). I am, however, dead set against giving special civil rights to groups of people based upon their sexual inclinations. That sanctions evil.
Also, with all the fundamentalist Mormon issues of having multiple wives, combined with the increasing Muslim population that wants to practice their beliefs about multiple wives, this ruling that changes the definition of marriage will without a doubt eventually open up marriage to whoever, whatever. If you change the definition of marriage for gays, why not allow the LDS and the Muslims to have their multiple wives?
